We’ve had Oura Rings, Apple Watch, and cold showers all to enhance our physical fitness. But the elite sporting industry is taking it to a different level. From personalized training to player selection, AI is playing role.

But some people think AI is making sports boring.

Here’s some commentary on that:

As AI continues to ruin things for some people, we should probably consider how it’s been leveraged more carefully. Afterall, who wants to see the downfall of the sporting industry?

With that being said here’s some AI things to geek out on:

1. AI for talent recruiting. Instead of reviewing game day film of high school athletes, AI can scan the film and identify promising players.

2. AI to improve sporting metrics with Kaggle’s NFL Big Data Bowl. In 2024, they were focused on improving tackling. Read more here.

3. AI can create personalized training regimens

4. AI can assess injury risk. Considering Will Smith’s 2015 movie Concussion this is a good thing. This also helps with sports insurance.
